Benefits of a Centacare NENW Mediation
Your Children Can Have A Say
Centacare can offer Child inclusive process which provides your child with an opportunity to tell their story and express
their views in a safe, confidential environment. It can assist separated parents to better understand how their child is coping with the
separation.
An Agreement Without Going To Court
Mediation is a confidential, structured negotiation process where two trained mediators (known as Family Dispute Resolution (FDR)
practitioners) help people in conflict, identify and assess suitable options for their children that everyone can agree upon.
You Don't Have To Be In The Same Room
Sometimes it's not suitable to have both parties in the same room so the FDR practitioner may arrange to go back and forth from different
rooms. This is called 'shuttle mediation'. You can always discuss with the Centacare mediator what you want and what your concerns
are.
You Can Bring A Support Person
There are sometimes situations when other people, who are not parties to the mediation, might attend the mediation session with the client.
The most common instance is a support persons. The mediation session can be very emotional for both parties and in some cases, a
party to the mediation may want or need to have a support person with them.
Mediation May Be Free In Some Circumstances
The cost of mediation through Centacare is significantly less expensive than going through a private mediator or having to go to court.
The cost of family dispute resolution depends on the provider and may be free for eligible people. Centacare has a standard fee policy
based on income levels and capacity to pay.
